1931 Gentlemen’s Special Sunbeam

1931 Gentlemen’s Special Sunbeam

3-Speed Sturmey-Archer

22″ Frame

26″ Wheels

At the end of the 1920s, the Sunbeam company were affected, like all manufacturers, by the economic downturn. Previously they had ignored their competitors, but now they started to observe the type of machines being sold elsewhere so they could offer similar.

This attractive Sunbeam is a mixture of traditional styles. It sports the famous Sunbeam chain-case and ornate Sunbeam lettering; but also features ‘modern’ looks (for 1931) and handling with a lightweight frame, dropped handlebars, Brooks Competition saddle and very practical 3-speed Sturmey Archer hub. It was restored 25 years ago, and obviously built with practicality in mind.
